Title: The Lady and Her Butler
Author: Jade
Genre: Romance
Graphic Novel
Rating: 3/5 stars
This is a romance about a guy that needs help and the lady, on a whim, decides to help him. The relationship becomes deeper and the story covers the ups and downs of it. I think part of the concept behind this was to flip the traditional gender roles promoted in a lot of stories.
Honestly, I gave this one lower stars because I just felt that the relationship wasn't that healthy. The man had a lot of issues, and granted, he had a reason to be upset in his life, and depression is a real and difficult thing to deal with. But it needs to be addressed more thoroughly than I feel like it was in the story. Also, a person who has an issue with it needs to make sure they get the help they need and deal with it, so it doesn't become a constant struggle in the relationship, or dangerous to themselves. Sometimes you need to take care of yourself first.
Also, I don't like the concept of letting random guys stay at your place as a woman. I know she was helping him, but this sort of romanticized ideal can get girls in trouble, for sure!
Clean Read?
There were some suggestive scenes and comments.
Question for my readers:
Am I being too harsh on the concepts presented in this story? Does it promote an unhealthy easiness in girls to promote this sort of response?
Enjoy your next adventure!
